Excellent investment, and yes, it's made of canvas!
After weeks of searching for an overnight bag for my 19 yr. old daughter in college, we finally found what she needs in this bag. The size will easily accomodate a change of clothes for two nights and two days, with plenty of extra room for toiletries,a blow dryer, shoes, and a coat. If anything, this bag is almost too big because if my daughter where to fill it completely it would likely be too heavy to carry comfortably. This bag is everything one expects from Lands' End - a well designed, well constructed, quality product at a reasonable price. Please don't be discouraged by the reviewer who claimed it's made of fabric, not canvas. Canvas IS a fabric, and its available in different weights. I would guess this bag to be of a medium weight canvas - too heavy for a shirt but similiar to a denim pant perhaps. The canvas does have a degree of softness and pliability to it, which is necessary for the shape and style of the bag. It is not the heavy canvas of the Lands' End totes, nor should it be. A heavier canvas would not allow for the drawstring closure nor the slouchy style. You can purchase this bag confident in the durability of the canvas construction. The classic vintage look is timeless. I know my daughter will use this bag for years and years to come; and, the leather will only improve with age and wear. It has been an excellent investment.

First of all, I expected CANVAS. The cloth part of the bag is just that, cloth. It is very flimsy and the interior lining is lightweight, as well.
I will have to send it back. The quality is not what I expected. The leather is very heavy and looks rustic, which is a plus. The leather will be around long after the cloth has worn out. It is very heavy and VERY large. It can only be used as a travel thing, and not every day. I am very disappointed. It is still expensive, even on sale.

Best Bag EVER.
I got this bag as a gift for Christmas, and I absolutely adore it. I use it as an overnight bag, and used it this past weekend on a flight to Denver for the weekend. perfect size, perfect length straps. It's large, and can hold many many things. I got many compliments and questions at the airport-everyone loved it!

best bag ever
I have wanted this bag since first seeing it this past summer but I waited and was able to purchase right before the holiday season. I love it! The vintage looking pinstripe, the soft and durable leather bottom and handles. I can fit a days worth of extra clothes for my three kids and some snacks and still throw in my wallet and be out the door. The room in the bag is awesome - I could see using this as a carryon bag to store the iPad, magazines, snacks etc for airplane ride. I would recommend this bag to those gals who want something different but very classic, you will use it over and over for all sorts of little trips. It is a bit heavy without anything in it - but I think that is because it will stand up to the everyday use. It's worth the buy.

Best bag, EVER
I ordered this bag in hopes that I would get what expected. Let me tell you-it's everything AND more! The quality is great, sits on my shoulder just right, and big enough for all my things. I use it as a small travel bag not a handbag, although I'm sure it'd be just as great as a handbag! If you're on the fence, buy it! Totally worth the money. Considering getting another color but I think this striped pattern is so cute & preppy!

I purchased this bag early November. The quality of this bag is outstanding. I carry alot of things, so I travel with this bag to work on a daily basis. The color goes with just about everything. Once the leather has been worn a few times, it turns into a beautiful saddle brown color. I love!!

Very Vintage
This is a gorgeous bag! It really looks vintage. The only drawback is that with nothing in it, it weighs about 3 pounds.

versatile and very well made
exceptional quality. nice style. The leather is nice and looks like it will hold up well. I have flown all over the country and people literally stop me and ask where I got it. I like Lands End Canvas but this is the best purchase I have made yet. Considering buying another one in the other color for winter travel to northern locations.
