Description

Broken in as if you'd worn it for years.

  • Washed cotton Oxford cloth
  • Re-proportioned buttondown collar
  • Contrast details at vent and inside cuff
  • Shorter tails
  • A refined, tailored fit
  • Intended to have a relaxed, lived-in style. Arrives unpressed and minimally packaged

Design: The Oxford 101, in softer washed fabric. We've re-proportioned everything: a shorter collar, narrower placket, shorter tails — so that it works both casually and as a dress shirt. Authentic in every way, down to the pieced sleeve found on finer Oxfords from the 1930s.

Possibilities: Untucked, with jeans and sneakers. A tie and a cardigan. What you should have worn in college. Hard to go wrong.

Heritage: Oxford fabric was originally invented at a Scottish mill in the 1800s and was one of 4 shirt fabrics named after famous universities. The others being Cambridge, Harvard and Yale. Only the Oxford cloth stood the test of time. The unique warp and weft weave gives the fabric more texture. And proper Oxfords have buttondown collars, a nod to their sporting heritage.

Material: 100% cotton. Machine wash. Imported.

overpriced, cheap fabric This shirt is OK if you get it on sale, but definitely not worth paying full price for. The quality is not that great--it gets stretched out and wrinkles very easily. "Unique warp and weft weave" is a joke... every woven fabric has a warp and a weft. It's a plain weave on this shirt, not an oxford's traditional basket weave, despite all the nonsense copy about the Scottish heritage of the fabric. This shirt's failed promise is actually delivered on quite well by the mainline Land's End "sail rigger" oxford, which has beefier fabric, a color that will actually hold a tie, and looks great without a thorough ironing. It's also ten bucks cheaper... the tailored fit sail rigger oxford is a way better value. April 10, 2013
not at all the same at least one size larger than the older model I'd hoped to replace, and loved, and wore out. Much blousier, collar longer. This is almost no different than the tailored fit Hyde Park dress shirt. In future LE please announce these 'quality adjustments.' March 17, 2013
Excellent shirt, arrived in two days. My blue oxford shirt arrived 36 hours after I placed the order, soft, strong, and ready from the get-go. I like that it fits perfectly, with a modern silhouette. I'm on the skinny side, and so even when I order 'slim fit' shirts the fit often leaves much to be desired. But this one hits right home. January 31, 2013
Quite good. The bottom line is that if you need a solid, dependable OCBD, this is a good option. The cut is definitely a smidge roomier than most of Canvas' shirts. Compared to my favorite poplin shirt, for instance, this is bigger in the same size (L). Despite this, the shirt doesn't bloom around the waist when tucked. The contrast stitching is a nice detail - subtle - on the blue Oxford. Sleeve length is comical on me, but I have short arms. Length looks to be about 34". I have a green version of this shirt that has been a staple of my wardrobe for several years, and it's held up beautifully through many washes. Durable, dependable. I was pleased to bring in blue and white into the mix at a fair price. Good shirt! January 8, 2013
sleeves too long, a bit lightweight I normally wear something around 15.5-16/ 34 and the medium should have been the right fit but the sleeves were more like a 35; they seemed abnormally long. The shoulders also felt just a touch too wide either. I suppose I could have gone down to a small but that probably would have been too big a leap. I also wanted the material to pack a bit more heft; this certainly wasn't sheer but I thought it would have the weight of a heavier oxford and instead, it was somewhere in between a dress shirt and some of the more substantial oxfords I've owned. For the price, it's decent if the fit's right. But for me, I would have had to take this into the tailor to get the sleeves altered and I opted to return instead. January 5, 2013
nice shirt i love white shirt, you can wear with jean or slack. The shirt fit well on me . I am 5'7", 135 lb. i order a regular small as i usually did. Highly recommend this.. November 19, 2012
Solid, comfortable shirt This shirt is made of a good cloth, the cut is nice, and the price is right. Great shirt for work at the day or just going out in the evening. Definitely a new staple in the wardrobe. October 28, 2012
Workhorse shirt great fabric and feel, good for any situation. Not quite as slim as I would prefer, but still a good fit. October 28, 2012
This shirt is excellent. Fits perfectly. Material is soft but hardy. Wore it with a sweater and a sport coat. Perfect. October 27, 2012
Quality material, awful back. The material on this is great and the chest, arms and waist all seem to fit great. However, there is a ridiculous amount of excess material in the back of these shirts. For this reason, I am returning mine. For reference, I'm 5'11, 190 and ordered a medium. October 24, 2012
