Donegal fabric gets its name from the Irish county where the style originated. Untold centuries ago, the distinctive, colorful flecks woven throughout the fabric got their hues natural local dyes - berries, flowers, lichen, leaves and more. Our fabric isn't from County Donegal, but the look is authentic: the range of colors in our trousers make this a suit (if you also opt for the jacket) you can wear with most any shirt, any tie. Tailored with every detail in our Year'rounder® suit pants, plus adjustable side tabs and a button-flap watch pocket. 85% wool/15% nylon. Dry clean. Imported.

Beware: Vanity Sized I normally wear a size 35 or 36" in Brooks Brothers or Dickies. I ordered these pants in size 35" since they do not have belt loops I figured a more snug fit would be appropriate. They were too big, even with the side adjusters adjusted to the maximum tightness setting. So, if you're unsure, order one inch down from your regular size. Otherwise, these are terrific trousers. Cloth is nice, perfect for fall/spring. April 24, 2013
Great pants Got them on sale, and I love them, though the tailored cut isn't as tailored as expected. Compared to a pair of Lands End tailored cut pants I own in my regular 34 waist, these run a bit large. I probably should have a size 33, since there's no belt loops, and someone looking for an exact match of the fit of a tailored pants in their size, may wish to order a size smaller. I like the look of no belt loops, and the looser tailored look compliments the styling well as a sort of old world country pant, though I think it would have been a cleaner look if they had used a visible button closure instead of the tab ('French fly'?) style used. They are warm, though not one of those furnace-like, thick tweed pants the Brits may wear hunting, and a bit itchiness may be felt in spite of the lining, but nothing unordinary for wool. The color is a sort of donegal (color specks) brown, with an olive undertone. All in all a great pant for fall and winter. January 3, 2013
Nice fit, rich material These pants are warm and their fit make the late middle aged feel a bit younger without also feeling rediculous. December 8, 2012
And the look is clean and retro: Sizing was true, fabric has a nice hand. Great for the office or a night out without looking like everyone else, plus this steps up the game in many offices. Get these pants with the matching jacket and you have the basis for a good number of looks, if on sale even better. Now, after the suit you mix with sweaters or use the blazer and trousers as separates. Yes, it is true the pants do not have belt loops, you want suspenders. When you have them hemmed ask your tailor to put in suspender buttons assuming the tailor did not offer/suggest this first. And consider changing tailors if they don't ask first,. You could also get the clip-on type of suspenders and consider a narrow elastic. When worn with tattersall or an oxford cloth, button down collar please, and a bow tie and you're on the way to sartorial splendor. Shame these did not come in the salt-n-pepper Donegal fabric I'd have done that. And the added bonus is my wife, along with many women that I meet, loves me in these. And that is the group that I want to impress. November 10, 2012
ITCHY! Of anyone in my family I am most able to handle the itchiness involved with wearing wool. These pants are only half lined in the front, which means the back of my legs were very itchy all day long at the conference I wore these to. I don't know how I feel about the fabric, it looks like something you would get at the thrift store, which would be a lot cooler if I did, also A LOT CHEAPER. Overall I would not suggest these, unless you already have a good Idea what the fabric looks like, and know of a way to reduce the itchiness, I'll try to spray the inside with spray conditioner, that works on other wool items for me. Great pants! Fit is perfect, fabric is as described. Another Land's End product that didn't disappoint. The color and fabric are exactly as decribed. These will be worn for work and are a perfect bridge between casual and dressy. October 27, 2012
Extremely well-made pants These donegal slacks are extremely well made. The inner lining makes them warm and comfortable with a silk feeling inside. They are going to be perfect this winter with the matching donegal jacket I purchased with them. I highly recommend them but order a size larger as they run small. May 12, 2012
Very nice pants! Warm and attractive. Love the Donegal tweed. My husband wears a 36/32. He has a slim build and he liked the fit. Not baggy but tailored. We got the matching jacket and so he now has a new suit and is very pleased with both. February 18, 2012
No belt loops and no suspender buttons I spent the day pulling these pants up. It was very annoying. I now wear them with a belt, but I have to wear a sweater to conceal the belt. There are no belt loops or suspender buttons. I thread the belt through the waist adjustment system. Plain old belt loops would be an improvement. These pants could be very nice. February 10, 2012
Good deal overall On the negative side, fabric's a bit flimsier than you'd expect. Side adjusters instead of belt loops take some getting used to for newbies; if you're on the slimmer side of, say, a 36 waist but generally go with a larger waist to be safe, you might want to go down a size. On the plus side, fabric is very nice, with subtle colors; side adjusters a nice touch, exact inseam and cuffing always a plus. Waistband is adjustable, in case you expand more than the side adjusters can handle. This would be a good trouser to make with a single, forward pleat. I liked the pair I bought enough to buy a second February 4, 2012
